Cupping / Gua Sha / Moxibustion
Cupping is a therapy in which glass cups are used and suction is created with heat which warms the meridian points on the body to improve qi and blood circulation and thereby treat imbalances. Cupping therapy is very effective for muscle aches and rheumatism, cold and flu, weight management and general health maintenance.
Gua Sha involves scraping of the skin with a smooth edged massage instrument such as a piece of natural stone or jade. Gua sha stimulates microcirculation of the soft tissue which increases blood follow to promote healing. Like cupping, gua sha has many clinical applications, not limited just for muscular pain.
Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy in which moxa (dried mugwort) is burned on or near the surface of the skin to warm and invigorate the flow of qi in the meridian and dispel cold pathogenic factors. Moxibustion can improve energy level and is very effective in the treatment of chronic and deficient conditions.
